Fifty-Nine Parks is paying tribute to the history of America’s national parks in a contemporary way with their recently-launched book “The Art of the National Parks“. While it’s nearly impossible to truly capture the beauty of these lands in a single image, I can admit this book comes close.

Inspired by historic community, health, and educational posters launched by the Work Progress Administration, one of the first government programs to support the arts, the 176-page book is a celebration of every national park in the U.S.

Each park is highlighted in the book by a colorful illustration, inspiring quotes, fun facts, and in-depth guides to unique features, such as flora, fauna, and must-see attractions.

One of our favorites? The spread of Zion National Park, which features the shadow of a man immersed in the narrows. The image is supplemented by a quote by Isaac Behunin (who named Zion National Park), that says, “A man can worship God among these great cathedrals as well as in any man-made church–this is Zion.”

You’re going to have to buy the book to enjoy more like the above, but until then, why not find more inspiration by actually exploring the natural parks yourself?
