The limited-edition collection is all about wellness and self-care.

When we first found out that two design powerhouses, IKEA and Marimekko, were working on a collection we had visions of colorful patterns and affordable prices dancing in our heads. And it’s no surprise that when the actual collection, BASTUA, was revealed, it was exactly what we expected: pure delight. The 26-item collection just launched this month.

The whole limited-edition line is “inspired by Nordic nature, wellness, and self-care rituals.” In fact, BASTUA is a term used to describe “sauna” in Småland, the Swedish region where IKEA was founded. “Collaborating with Marimekko was a natural choice for IKEA as we are both committed to enabling a better everyday life at home, and with the BASTUA collection, it begins with focusing on wellness first,” said Henrik Most, creative leader at IKEA, in a press release. “The collaboration encapsulates the sensations of endless summers and the simple and aesthetic beauty of Nordic nature in furniture and accessories for the home.”

As you look at the pieces, you’ll notice beautiful patterns and prints—a Marimekko specialty—that are reflective of nature and the sauna environment. One motif that stands out is the large rhubarb leaf found on robes and even on a shopping bag similar to IKEA’s iconic FRAKTA bag—it’s a nod to the actual leaves that sometimes grow outside saunas in Finland. And you can consider these patterns true collectors’ items because it’s the first time the Finnish design house has created exclusive prints for a brand collaboration.

In addition to robes and bags, you’ll also find glassware, small pieces of furniture, cushions, towels, and even a sauna bucket within the BASTUA line. You can shop the collection now in stores and online, but make sure you add to cart and check out fast because many of the items are already running out.
